Country Overview: Liberia

Liberia continues to make strides in consolidating its democratic achievements and revitalizing its war-torn economy. Since the conclusion of the Liberian Civil War in 2003, the nation has successfully conducted three national elections that were generally perceived as free and fair. Furthermore, Liberia has embarked on the challenging journey of reconstructing its economy while simultaneously strengthening its educational and healthcare systems.

However, the country faced a significant setback with the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease in 2014-2015, which strained the government’s resources, hindered economic growth, and caused delays in crucial development projects. Thanks to the global response, primarily led by the United States, the worst of the outbreak was brought under control.

Our collaborative efforts aim to instill confidence in public governance, introduce reforms to pivotal institutions, and bring about tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary Liberians.
